Burst Pipe Inside a Wall
Water comes through plaster or wallpaper. We use acoustic and thermal tools to find the exact spot, then cut a small access hole, fix the pipe, and pressure test. No “knock the whole wall down” approach.
Burst Pipe Under the Floor or Slab
Slab leaks are common in older Harare homes (Avondale, Mount Pleasant, Highlands). The pipe runs under concrete. We locate the leak, lift the smallest tile or section needed, repair, and reseal.
Burst Pipe Under the Yard or Driveway
Often caused by tree roots (jacaranda and msasa are the worst), shifting ground, or old galvanised pipes. We locate the leak, dig only where needed, replace the damaged section, and refill.
Burst Pipe in the Ceiling
Usually from the geyser overflow line, the cold feed to the geyser, or a hot water line in the roof. We drain the ceiling, find the leak, repair it, and check the rest of the line for weak spots.
Burst Pipe Between Meter and House
The boundary pipe from the meter to your house is your responsibility, not the council’s. We trace, expose, and replace as needed.
Outside Tap or Garden Pipe Burst
Easier to spot, usually cheaper to fix. We replace the burst section and check for other weak points caused by the same pressure spike.
Repeated Small Leaks in Different Spots

Why Pipes Burst in Harare
Pipes burst here for reasons that don’t apply in other cities. Here is what we see most.
Old Galvanised Steel Pipes
Many Harare homes built before 1985 still have original galvanised steel pipes. After 40+ years, the inside rusts, narrows, and weakens. One day it splits. If your house is from the 60s, 70s, or 80s and you haven’t repiped, this is your most likely cause. Common in: Avondale, Highlands, Mount Pleasant, Greendale, Newlands, Belvedere, parts of Borrowdale.
Ground Movement (Black Cotton Soil)
A lot of Harare sits on black cotton soil. It swells when wet and shrinks when dry. This pulls pipes apart at the joints. We see this most in late winter and early summer.
Council Pressure Surges
ZINWA and Harare City pressure goes from zero to high quickly when water comes back after a cut. The sudden surge pops weak joints and old pipes.
Borehole Pressure Issues
If your borehole pump has no pressure switch or the switch is faulty, pressure can spike high and damage pipes. We see this often in suburbs heavily reliant on boreholes.
Tree Roots

Can you find a leak without breaking my walls?
Yes, in most cases. We use acoustic and thermal tools to pinpoint the leak first. We only open the smallest area needed for the actual repair.
What pipe will you use to replace mine?
For above-ground and indoor work, we use PEX or copper. For underground, we use HDPE (the best for tree-root areas) or heavy-duty PVC. We do not use cheap fittings.
Should I repipe my whole house or just fix the leak?
If you have one burst and the rest of the pipework is sound, just fix the leak. If you have repeated leaks in different spots, your pipes are failing, and a section or whole-house repipe is cheaper long-term. We give you an honest assessment.
Do you work on borehole and JoJo tank pipes?
